Why Duke?

Attending Duke had always been a dream for me, but admittedly for much of my childhood that dream was inspired mostly by my love for college basketball. Once I began more seriously researching schools to apply to however, Duke began to stick out as the school that could provide everything I was looking for. As someone with academic and career interests concentrated in public policy, the ability to take classes in and hopefully conduct research with the Sanford School is an opportunity I was heavily drawn to. Furthermore, the sheer diversity and quantity of incredible enrichment programs like Bass Connections, Experiential Orientation, FOCUS, or Duke In for study abroad made me confident that I could be well supported while engaging with a range of interests. Since actually coming here, I am constantly in awe of the amazing community and the kindness and passions of my classmates.
