Why Duke?

I chose Duke because I know that the resources and support at Duke University will challenge me to deepen and broaden my scope of health science and its connections with other fields. Duke University will guide me to become an inquisitive learner, an active leader, and an empowered citizen.

To me, the AB Scholarship is further encouragement to promote intellectual curiosity within myself and others at Duke and beyond! I hope to use my experiences with the scholar community to foster meaningful change in my future pursuits.

At Duke, I plan on joining various student groups related to women's rights, social justice, and physical/mental health awareness. I also hope to look into the Carceral Studies Network Project to learn more and do more about our nation's carceral issues. To relax, I plan on exploring Durham's rich culture and community, spending lots of time outside, and trying out new hobbies!
