Why Duke?
During the fall of my senior year, I decided that I wanted to apply early decision to give myself the best chance possible to get into my top choice. The question then became which school. My list of schools was long and varied, but despite that Duke was immediately in my mind. Having grown up in a diehard Duke basketball family I had lived so much of my childhood in Duke gear already. I felt a connection to Duke that didn’t exist with any other school, and it just so happened that Duke itself really matched me. I wanted to be somewhere that would challenge me academically and be a place where I could enjoy myself. Duke’s scholarly reputation was always evident, but the image of myself in the student section cheering, covered in blue paint, was a promise for fun that I didn’t see with other schools. Duke’s location, size, and distance from my hometown checked all of my other boxes. It was my perfect choice. Once I submitted my application I knew that I would have no regrets withdrawing all others for the chance to be a blue devil, and now I am so excited to start my journey there. I am glad that I found my way to being a devil, and thankfully so because I think I still would have ended up rooting for Duke basketball despite where I ended up.
