Why Duke?
"Scholarship in the service of society"—the quote that ultimately led me into choosing Duke University. I believe that one of the greatest gifts, knowledge has bestowed upon us, is the power to build a fully functional, innovative community and the power to continuously improve it. In the future, I want to use what I have learned in making the lives of people easier and worry-free. With their co-curricular and extracurricular programs such as Bass Connections and DukeEngage, Duke University is the perfect place to use what I know in bettering the communities I am part of. That is why I am so grateful to be given this one in a million opportunity to be a Karsh International Scholar in the Class of 2025. Not only will I be able to attend Duke University but I also will be given an avenue to empower people's lives around the world especially in my home country, the Philippines. Through conducting research and special projects, I plan to facilitate positive changes in the areas of technology and STEM education. Indeed, applying to Duke under the Early Decision program is, if not the best, one of the best decisions I have made in my life.
