Class of 2025
(She/Her/Hers)
B.N. Duke Scholar
Hometown: Lumberton, North Carolina
Academic Interests: Public Policy
Hobbies: I'm an avid reader of science fiction, fantasy, and history. I enjoy dabbling in different art forms like painting and jewelry-making. I love to get out in nature and go on hikes at local parks.
Why Duke?
As a rising freshman, I chose Duke because the students I've met have been some of the most talented, driven people I have ever known. I saw myself growing both academically and personally with an amazing and supportive community. At Duke, I am interested in community service work and research related to health disparities in underserved communities. I also plan to get involved in the Native American Student Association and the pre-health community on campus.
The B.N. Duke Scholarship means that I was able to further my education at one of the best academic institutions in North Carolina while also being close enough to home to maintain family and community ties. The B.N. Duke Scholarship tells students that regardless of their background, hard work does pay off. At Duke, I hope to take a stroll through the Sarah P. Duke Gardens, see the Duke Lemur Center, and visit the local Durham restaurants.
