Mellon Project: Harmonizing Heaven and Earth: Exploring St. Maximus the Confessor's Mystagogy on Liturgical Time and the Incarnation
My research project aims to uncover and explore the relationship between the concept of Liturgical Time and the Incarnation as transcending temporality through a close reading of St. Maximus’ Mystagogy in particular and other primary sources of St. Maximus and other scholars who touch upon these themes.
Academic Interests: Church History, Medieval History and Theology
Brief Bio: Jason M. Murray Jr. is a third-year undergraduate student at Duke University interested in Medieval Christian theology and the Roman Empire with an eye towards liturgical, conciliar, and apocalyptic texts and traditions. He loves to play chess and frequently finds himself in the Duke Gardens. He hopes to go to graduate school to become a professor in what he loves to study.
