Hobbies: I enjoy staying active and was a member of my school's soccer, swimming, and track teams. I also take advantage of the opportunity to engage in hands-on, creative activities, and I was a longtime participant in the Odyssey of the Mind program. Additionally I enjoy spending time in nature and staying politically active.
Why Duke?
As I was looking at many different schools as possible options to continue my education, Duke was always different. It is different in that it offers a unique balance between academic rigor and school spirit. Duke is different in regards to the university's encouragement of interdisciplinary studies, allowing students to find connections between subject areas. As a student, I plan to take advantage of these interdisciplinary opportunities to explore how our society can make cities happier, healthier places to live. These are just some of the things that drew me to Duke and ultimately led me to choose its beautiful gothic campus as my home for the next four years. The generosity of the Wilson family in their endowment of the Plato and Dixie Wilson Trinity Scholarship will allow me to fully experience all Duke has to offer, and I am forever grateful to the Wilson family and the university for giving me this truly amazing opportunity.
