(She/Her/Hers)
B.N. Duke Scholar
Hometown: Durham, North Carolina
Academic Interests: African & African American Studies, Creative Writing, Documentary Studies
Hobbies: I enjoy volunteering in my community and engaging in social activism. I am passionate about language learning and enjoy learning/practicing Spanish. In my free time, I like to write stories, novels, poems, script, and screenplays to explore different life experiences.
Why Duke?
I chose Duke because of the University's commitment to diversity & inclusion, resources that align with my artistic and academic interests, and the welcoming nature of the students, faculty, and staff. Duke was somewhere I could see myself thriving while also engaging with the greater Durham community and world. I knew that if I wanted to do something locally, Duke had resources, but if I also wanted to travel to another country, Duke could also help me. Being a B.N. Duke Scholar means that I can fully immerse myself in everything Duke has to offer without worrying about money or finances. I'm interested in engaging in the arts by joining dance groups like StreetMed and DefMo and joining the BSA to build community with other Black students. I'm also pretty sure there are lots of other clubs and organizations I have yet to learn about!
